Madhya Pradesh is poised to become one of the leading states in green energy. The state’s abundant renewable energy resources and supportive policy framework create an ideal environment for green hydrogen projects, said Manu Shrivastava, Additional Chief Secretary of New and Renewable Energy, Madhya Pradesh during a roundtable discussion with investors in the green hydrogen sector.

He apprised investors about the various facilities provided by the state government, including land availability, an adequate power supply, and a favourable geographical structure.

Among the alternative sources of energy, apart from green hydrogen, the Madhya Pradesh Government’s Renewable Energy Policy 2022 aims to position the state as a leading hub for renewable energy.

The policy focuses on creating a favourable ecological zone for the manufacturing of renewable energy equipment and promoting the large-scale adoption of renewable energy. As an incentive, the government provides a 50 percent discount on land acquisition costs and 50 percent reimbursement of stamp duty on the purchase of private land designated for renewable energy projects.

Shrivastava asserted that the cooperation of industrialists, officials, and financial stakeholders is essential in realising the green hydrogen potential of the state and contributing to India’s sustainable energy goals.

Managing Director of Urja Vikas Nigam, Amanvir Singh Bains, stated that Madhya Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a favourable destination for green energy investment. Over the past decade, the state's renewable energy capacity has grown 11-fold, now accounting for 24 percent of its total installed power capacity.
