MORTH Seeks Suggestions on Proposal to Exempt Fees of Battery Operated Vehicles for RC Issuance
With an aim to boost e-mobility across the country, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued a draft notification to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 proposing to exempt Battery Operated Vehicles (BOV) from fees payment for issue or renewal of Registration Certificate (RC) and for assigning new registration mark.

With an aim to boost e-mobility across the country, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued a draft notification to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 proposing to exempt Battery Operated Vehicles (BOV) from fees payment for issue or renewal of Registration Certificate (RC) and for assigning new registration mark.
In this regard, MoRTH has issued a draft notification on May 27, 2021, and sought comments and suggestions from general public and all industry stakeholders on its proposal within a period of 30 days from the date of issuance of the draft notification.
Further, interested stakeholders can submit their objections and suggestions to the draft rules, to the Joint Secretary (MVL), email: ‘comments-morth@gov.in’, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Transport Bhawan, Parliament Street, New Delhi-110 001.
