The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued an order on the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti National Master Plan related to renewable energy.
Gati Shakti Yojna, launched in 2021, is aimed at developing holistic infrastructure in India. The National Master Plan is intended at bringing together all the relevant ministries to a digital platform.
In the order released by MNRE on renewable energy inclusions in Gati Shakti, it states that the ministry has created a cell wherein entire communication for all the works related to PM Gati Shakti could be done. Further, projects of capacity more than 50 MW would be mapped on the PM-Gati Shakti portal.
Meanwhile, the Gati Shakti cell would map the projects taken by the renewable energy implementing agencies (REIA) on the portal. A standard format for mapping data has been approved by MNRE. In coordination with the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) and BISAG-N, the Gati Shakti cell will upload the resource maps of solar radiation and wind speed on the portal.
All the intra-state transmission infrastructure on the state’s portal would be mapped by the state transmission utilities. The concerned transmission projects of the Green Energy Corridor (GEC) will be mapped by the states on the state portal with a distinct colour coding to avoid the duplication of the GEC infrastructure. After the verification, the data would be sent to the BISAG-N which will link the state’s portal to the national portal.
With collective efforts from NIWE and REIA, the data uploaded on the portal would be checked by the Gati Shakti cell. In coordination with BISAG-N, multiple layers created for similar projects will be merged.
After the mapping of all the existing projects is done, the procedure for uploading, verifying and approving the data will be done every month.
