The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has extended the deadline for stakeholders to submit their feedback on the proposed amendment to the 'Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM)' for solar PV cells.
Initially, the last date for submission was October 6, 2024, but it has now been extended by 15 days, pushing the new deadline to October 21, 2024.
It may be mentioned that, last month, MNRE had issued draft guidelines for the inclusion of Solar PV cells in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) seeking comments from the industry stakeholders.
This amendment seeks to introduce List-II for solar PV cells, a critical move as India ramps up its domestic solar PV cell manufacturing capacity. Industry stakeholders are encouraged to share their views, comments, and suggestions.
The introduction of List-II for solar PV cells is part of the government's larger strategy to promote local manufacturing and ensure that solar modules used in the country meet stringent quality standards. The ALMM List-II is scheduled to take effect from April 1, 2026.
