In a step towards bolstering India's renewable energy sector, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has provisionally enlisted numerous additional solar PV module models from various manufacturers.
With this expansion of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-I, MNRE aims to increase the availability of certified solar modules across the country, crucial for increasing demand for the growing solar projects.
It should be noted that the updated list now includes two new entrants, namely, PV Power from Maharashtra and Lubi Electronics from Gujarat, bringing the total number of firms to 93 from 90.
As per the list released, Renewsys India Pvt. Ltd., with the enlisted capacity of 565 MW per year in Maharashtra unit and 576 MW per year in Telangana, has secured provisional approval for 12 new solar PV module models across its facilities in both the states. Thus, enhancing their market position and ensuring compliance with stringent quality standards mandated by the ALMM List-I. However, final approval hinges on meeting all regulatory criteria and passing government scrutiny.
Spark Solar Technologies Pvt. Ltd. with enlisted capacity of 42 MW per year and Sova Solar Limited with enlisted capacity of 532 MW per year have also received clearance for additional models manufactured in Maharashtra and West Bengal, respectively. This is also expected to strengthen their competitive edge in the growing solar market.
Gujarat based firm, Aatmanirbhar Solar Pvt. Ltd.,with enlisted capacity of 100 MW per year has also been provisionally enlisted for seven new models, highlighting their commitment to expanding domestic manufacturing capabilities and reducing reliance on imports.
Similarly, Jakson Engineers Ltd. with enlisted capacity of 500 MW per year and Goldi Sun Pvt.Ltd. with enlisted capacity of 2209 MW per year have secured provisional enlistment for eight new models each, enhancing their opportunity to contribute towards India’s green story.
However, the provisional enlistment is dependent on meeting all stipulated conditions, as outlined by the MNRE and the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE). Failure to comply could result in delays or non-inclusion in the final approved list. This exhibits the rigorous standards upheld by regulatory authorities.
These developments mark a significant stride towards ensuring a robust supply of certified solar modules in India, aligning with the government's ambitious renewable energy goals. The proactive measures undertaken by the MNRE underscore its commitment to fostering growth and reliability within the solar energy sector.
