Japan's Mitsubishi Electric Corp announced to invest INR 18.91 billion (USD 231.2 million) to establish a production amenity in the state of Tamil Nadu.

Mitsubishi Motors Corp said earlier in March that it proposes for hybrid and battery electric vehicles to account for all new car sales in the midst of the next decade.

The firm said that it will create employment by giving job opportunities to 2004 people for this project.

The production amenity for room air-conditioners and compressors is anticipated to be avail on a 52-acre land owned by Origins by Mahindra in Peruvoyal village, Gummidipoondi Taluk in neighbouring Thiruvallur district.

Mitsubishi Electric India added that the amenity would generate more than 2,000 jobs of which 60 percent would consist of women employees.

It will also execute many initiatives for carbon neutrality including minimisation of carbon dioxide emissions through upgraded thermal insulation, utilise highly efficient air-conditioning and heated water systems.

Company officials stated that commercial manufacturing at the amenity was anticipated to commence in October 2025 and the primary capacity of room air-conditioners would be three lakh units and 6.50 lakh for compressors by December 2025.

The production unit would meet sustainable development goals through steps such as reusing wastewater via underground filtration treatment and site greening.
