Mingyang Smart Energy has introduced the world's largest offshore wind turbine, the MySE 18.X-20MW, at its Shanwei manufacturing base.
The MySE 18.X-20MW stands out for its modularity, lightweight design, high efficiency, and reliability, setting new standards in the offshore wind industry.
Designed for global deployment in medium-to-high wind speed regions, the turbine is particularly suited for typhoon-prone sites. Mingyang has equipped it with active anti-typhoon technology, showcasing its resilience by withstanding Category 17 typhoons with wind speeds ranging from 56.1 to 61.2 m/s.
The MySE 18.X-20MW also contributes to environmental sustainability. With an annual generation capacity of 80 million kWh in Eastern Guangdong, the turbine can power 96,000 households and reduce CO2 emissions by 66,000 tonnes.
Highlighting the significance of domestic manufacturing, Mingyang ensures key components such as blades, gearboxes, generators, pitch systems, large castings, and control systems are produced domestically.
