MEDA Invites Bids for Solar PV Project Across 272 Schools in Nagpur

MEDA has issued a tender for a 544 kW grid-connected solar PV Power project in 272 Zilha Parishad schools across Nagpur district. The INR 3.45 crore project covers survey, installation, and maintenance of rooftop solar systems, aiming to promote renewable energy in educational institutions.

In a bid to enhance the use of renewable energy in educational institutions, the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) has issued a tender for the installation of grid-connected solar PV power plants across 272 Zilha Parishad schools in Nagpur district.

Each school will have a rooftop solar power plant with a capacity of 2 kW, bringing the total project capacity to 544 kW under roof top net metering system. This initiative is aimed at promoting sustainable energy practices while reducing the electricity costs for these schools. The project, with an estimated cost of INR 3.45 crore, will include a comprehensive scope of work, starting from survey and design, to the final commissioning of the solar plants.

The scope of work involves survey, design, fabrication, supply, installation, testing, operation and commissioning with remote monitoring system (RMS) of the solar power systems. Furthermore, the contractor will be responsible for the maintenance of the system for a period of five years, ensuring the long-term operational efficiency of the plants.

These solar PV systems will be installed across various talukas, including Umred, Kalmeshwar, Katol, Narkhed, Parshivani, Bhivapur, Mouda, Ramtek, Saoner, Hingna, Kamthi, Kuhi, and Nagpur Gramin. Interested bidders are required to pay a non-refundable tender fee of INR 29,500. Additionally, an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of INR 3.45 lakh is required to participate in the bidding process.

The tender documents (ref. no. 2024_MEDA_1032433_3) can be downloaded from MEDA’s official e-tender portal starting from September 10, 2024, with the last date for bid submission being September 20, 2024, at 5:00 PM. A pre-bid meeting was held on September 17, 2024, at MEDA’s divisional office in Nagpur, where potential bidders could address their queries and concerns regarding the tender process.

The opening of technical bids is scheduled for September 21, 2024, at 5:00 PM at MEDA’s Nagpur office. The evaluation of price bids will be announced at a later date. MEDA has also outlined a security deposit requirement of 3 percent of the contract value, which must be submitted upon the issuance of the Letter of Intent.

MEDA has emphasised the importance of transparency and competitiveness in the bidding process and reserves the right to cancel or amend the bidding procedure at any stage. The initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the State’s renewable energy goals while providing the schools with a reliable and cost-effective source of power for their day-to-day operations.
