Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar has announced its investment in Valle Solar, one of the largest solar photovoltaic projects in Spain’s Valencia region. The investment, made through its subsidiary Saeta, strengthens Masdar’s commitment to renewable energy expansion in Spain and Europe.

The 234 MW solar plant, with the potential to integrate a 259 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), is set to begin operations in the first half of 2027. Located across Ayora, Jarafuel, and Zarra, the project was initially developed by a joint venture between Genia Solar Energy and Solar Ventures.

Valle Solar aligns with Masdar’s sustainability goals, incorporating biodiversity initiatives and supporting local communities. The project is expected to accelerate Spain’s clean energy transition and bolster the local economy.

As part of its global strategy, Masdar aims to achieve a clean energy portfolio of 100 GW by 2030. The acquisition of Valle Solar marks a key milestone in this mission, reinforcing Spain’s role in Masdar’s European growth plans.

The agreement between Saeta Yield, Genia Solar, and Solar Ventures highlights a collaborative approach to clean energy production while ensuring environmental and community commitments. In this transaction, Watson Farley & Williams, G-advisory, EY, and Finergreen advised Solar Ventures and Genia Solar Energy, while Broseta, Solida, and Pérez-Llorca advised Saeta Yield.
