Maldives Government Offers Bids for 20 MWp Solar Tender

The project intends the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in 20 occupied outer islands under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The Maldives government released an Invitation for Bids pertaining to a tender for the building and operation of grid-linked solar power systems in the South Asian archipelagic state with a targeted capacity of 20 MWp in total.

The project intends the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in 20 occupied outer islands under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The registration is provided for the interested parties with the Maldives finance ministry till August 10, 2023.

A pre-bid meeting is to be organised online on June 1, whereas the actual bidding is dated to finalised on August 14, 2023.

Sheharyar Chughtai, Public-Private Partnership Specialist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) also serves as the transaction advisor to the government of the Maldives, stated this is the world’s first various sites land, rooftop and water floating solar IPP project.

An earlier declaration is about that the project will be assisted by a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-run utility Fenaka Corporation Ltd.
