Maharashtra Government Inks MoU with SIBC for Sustainable Infrastructure

The major target of this initiative in the realm of waste-to-energy initiatives, financial services, sustainable infrastructure, transportation, and defence sector manufacturing.

75 years of bilateral relations between Sweden and India was celebrated ‘Sweden India Leaders’ Round Table on Innovation and Sustainability was organised in Pune.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was present in a closed-door round table dialogue along with designated CEOs of Indian and Swedish companies.

At the event, the Consulate General of Sweden in Mumbai, Anna Lekvall, Swedish Ambassador to India, Jan Thesleff, and Indian Ambassador to Sweden Tanmaya Lal were participated.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Government of Maharashtra and the Sweden India Business Council (SIBC).

The major target of this initiative in the realm of waste-to-energy initiatives, financial services, sustainable infrastructure, transportation, and defence sector manufacturing.

Fadnavis said, “out of 260 Swedish companies in India, 43 are in Pune, including some of the largest manufacturers.”

The two parties, as in Sweden-India Business Council and the State of Maharashtra have come in consensus to work together for exploration, study and financing possibilities.

SIBC was established in May 2003.The Sweden-India Business Council (SIBC) is the panel which has key concern to grow business between Sweden and India. SIBC manages confluences, roundtables as well as affixing small, medium and large companies as members.

MIDC was instituted in the year 1962, under M.I.D. Act 1961 operating as the chief industrial infrastructure development agency of Government of Maharashtra.
