Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently inaugurated two projects with a total capacity of 6 MW projects under the ‘Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana 2.0’ for the farmers. It included a 4 MW capacity project at Umbarda Bazaar, Washim and a 2 MW capacity project at Narangwadi, Dharashiv.

He also had an interaction with farmers through a video conference regarding the solar agricultural feeder scheme. He elaborated that this initiative will provide access to affordable and uninterrupted daytime electricity powered by solar energy, revolutionising agriculture.

“Adoption of green energy will pave the way for Maharashtra's farmers to lead the second green revolution in the near future,” he said.

The CM stated that the 16,000 MW target under this yojana will be operational by June 2026, supplying daytime electricity to 32,93,592 agricultural consumers across 8,428 channels via 2,251 substations.

“Previously if the government gave free electricity to farmers government borne the cost of INR 7 per unit. But now, with this green energy milestone, the cost will be reduced to INR 3 per unit, significantly easing the financial burden on the government while ensuring access to electricity throughout the day to farmers,” Fadnavis posted on X.

He further claimed that this transformative project highlights the Maharashtra government’s commitment to renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and farmer empowerment.
