The Madhya Pradesh government is planning to develop an 800 MW solar park that will alternate energy supply between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh every six months.
The project, consisting of four 200 MW units, will be jointly procured by MP Power Management Company and UP Power Corporation Ltd. During a pre-bid meeting held at the Global Investors Summit 2025 in Bhopal, investors were briefed on the project details.
Madhya Pradesh usually experiences lower energy demand in the first two quarters of the financial year, while Uttar Pradesh sees higher demand. In the remaining two quarters, the trend reverses, making the energy needs of both states complementary.
“This will be a pure solar project, supplying power to two states alternately for six months each,” said Manu Shrivastav, Additional Chief Secretary, New and Renewable Energy, Madhya Pradesh, during the meeting.
Investors were informed that the final bid documents will be released on May 9, the reverse auction will take place on June 23, and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) will be signed on July 14, 2025.
