Mumbai-based Lord’s Mark Industries has entered into a mega solar lighting project aggregating worth approx. Rs 900 crore in the state of Bihar. Lords is the sole channel partner to Philips India for the development of such projects solely in the government sector.
Furthermore, the project would be implemented through Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA), the nodal agency for remote village electrification.
The company is expected to complete phase-I of the project worth Rs 300 crore in the first year by installing around 1 lakh street lights and is looking forward to another 2 lakh street lights in the next two years time period.
With this project, Bihar will become India’s first state to have the world’s biggest solar street lighting system based on Remote Monitoring System (RMS).
Commenting on the project win, Sachidanand Upadhyay, Founder of Lord’s Mark Industries, said “the street lights project in Bihar reiterates our commitment to building a new India by enriching the quality of people’s lives. We are certain that this master project will be the harbinger of solar electrification in all parts of the country. We are proud to have tied up with the world’s largest electronics conglomerate Philips to implement the project that will cover remote parts of Bihar.”
The company’s street lighting project will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly and earn the country carbon credits. It has an in-house developed AI-powered RMS system with its R&D team for transmitting Data through SIM cards. The light poles will be fitted with a box containing a SIM card, which transmits data to a centralised system called CSC. The system will thus show how many of the lights are working and how many of them have issues in the entire state.
“Bihar is the first state to implement the world’s largest solar-based public services, and we are proud to be the nodal agency for this epoch-making project. We believe this project will be a game-changer for renewable energy systems in other states. We are honoured to have the country’s most respectable lighting solutions company, Lord’s Mark Industries, and the world’s leading electronics firm, Philips, as partners for implementing this colossal project,” said Khagesh Choudhary, Assistant Director, BREDA.
