Kuwait Moves Forward with Solar Panel Production Plans
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity has approved a solar panel production workshop project for 2024-2025. The initiative aims to enhance renewable energy integration and contribute to the country’s 15 percent renewable target by 2035.

The project has received financial approval from the Central Agency for Public Tenders, which is now inviting specialized companies to submit their bids for the construction and operation of the solar panel production facility. This process will involve a thorough review and evaluation of all submitted bids, with the contract awarded to the proposal that demonstrates the best combination of technical excellence and financial feasibility.
The workshop's establishment is more than just an industrial undertaking; it represents Kuwait's commitment to its national goal of generating 15 percent of its electricity through renewable sources by 2035. The facility will be dedicated to the production of solar panels, which have been identified through various studies as the most efficient and cost-effective renewable energy solution for the country’s unique environmental conditions.
Once operational, the solar panels produced in this workshop will be seamlessly integrated into Kuwait’s national electricity grid, ensuring a steady and reliable supply of renewable energy to meet the country's growing demand. This initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the stability and sustainability of Kuwait's energy sector, especially when compared to other renewable technologies like thermal panels, which have been deemed less suitable for the region.
Furthermore, the project includes the construction of a new, state-of-the-art facility under the ministry’s direct oversight. This facility will not only enhance Kuwait’s capacity to produce solar panels domestically but will also position the nation as a potential leader in renewable energy technology within the region.
