KPI Green Energy has announced the appointment of Surinder Kumar Negi as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). He brings over four decades of extensive experience in the power transmission, renewable energy, and infrastructure development sectors, having held leadership roles at NTPC, POWERGRID, ALSTOM, Reliance Energy, Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO), and Skipperseil Ltd.

With a proven track record in power transmission, renewable integration, and project execution, Negi has been instrumental in shaping India's energy infrastructure. As Managing Director of Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO), he added 830 new substations and 21,300 km of transmission lines, expanding Gujarat’s power grid to support over 23,000 MW of generation capacity.

Under his leadership, GETCO invested over INR 12,000 crore in infrastructure development, achieving industry-leading transmission losses below 4 percent and improving system availability to 99.6 percent. His initiatives played a critical role in ensuring 24x7 uninterrupted power supply across Gujarat.

Dr. Faruk Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of KPI Green Energy, stated, “We are at a turning point in India’s renewable energy transition, and the demand for robust, reliable transmission networks and large-scale clean energy projects is greater than ever. Negi’s wealth of experience in power infrastructure and project execution will be invaluable as we scale our solar, hybrid, and transmission projects. His leadership will ensure that KPI Green Energy continues to set new benchmarks in innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.”

Dr. Alok Das Group CEO of KP Group, added, “Negi’s deep expertise in power transmission and renewable energy, combined with his strong leadership in grid modernisation and smart energy solutions, makes him an ideal fit for KPI Green Energy’s expansion strategy. His ability to deliver high-impact projects on time and with operational excellence will accelerate our mission of building a cleaner, more resilient energy future.”

Negi’s leadership has been recognised at the national and global levels. He received ‘Best Engineer Award (2014-15’) by CBIP for his contributions to India’s power transmission sector and a ‘Distinguished Fellow Member Certificate’ by CIGRE (2016) for excellence in grid modernisation and high-voltage transmission solutions.

He spearheaded India’s first large-scale Smart Grid Technology integration, deploying Optical CT, Digital Substations, PMUs, and AI-driven grid analytics. He also led GETCO in implementing one of India's most advanced Load Despatch Centres, ensuring real-time RE forecasting, grid balancing, and smart transmission control.

At KPI Green Energy, Negi will focus on scaling renewable energy projects, strengthening the company’s transmission infrastructure, and expanding its domestic and international footprint. His expertise in large-scale project execution, grid integration, and operational excellence will be instrumental in KPI Green Energy’s next growth phase.
