Kolkata has made a significant stride toward sustainability and education with the opening of India’s first Renewable Energy Museum at Eco Park.

This state-of-the-art, solar-powered dome, recently unveiled, provides an immersive experience exploring renewable energy, environmental sustainability, and innovative practices for a greener future.

The museum’s architecture is a marvel, featuring a 27-meter-high dome with a 45-meter diameter, powered by 2,000 solar panels. This will provide continous energy generation throughout the day, powering the facility itself and lighting the surrounding streetlights.

The museum offers an immersive experience, featuring LED tunnels, projectors, and robots to educate visitors on various renewable energy sources such as hydro, tidal, wind, geothermal, and solar. It also highlights environmental awareness and sustainable practices, paving the way for a greener future.

A dedicated facility management team ensures smooth operations of the exhibits, including a specially curated children’s zone, a panoramic viewing gallery overlooking Eco Park, and a futuristic film envisioning Kolkata in 2100.

The Renewable Energy Museum is more than just a place for learning—it’s a hub for fun and engagement. Visitors can partake in interactive games, quizzes, and a digital assembly game, while also exploring the smart city model and enjoying recreational facilities such as a café and gift shop.

This ambitious project is a joint initiative by the Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation and the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd., reflecting Kolkata’s commitment to promoting renewable energy awareness. It is designed to captivate and inspire, the museum is a proud milestone in India’s journey toward sustainability.
