Kerala Declares to Establish Special Zone for EV Industry

According to the report, the EVOK is going to establish 30 fast charging stations at many places in Kerala.

Kerala Industries Minister P Rajeeve announced that a special zone for the electric vehicle (EV) industry will be newly established in the state.

Speaking at the inaugural summit of Electric vehicle owners Kerala (EVOK) in Kochi, the Industries minister expressed, “It is envisaged that battery production, technology development and other allied businesses can function in the special zone.”

He added that the government is boosting Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) and private companies to install more fast charging stations in the state.

According to the report, the EVOK is going to establish 30 fast charging stations at many places in Kerala.

The 30 charging stations are comprised in the first phase and later it will be augmented to 100.

Hibi Eden, MP, introduced the initiative and commenced a mobile application to assist EV owners access the charging stations without any hindrance.

The mobile application is made in cooperation with start-up firm ChargeMOD.

EVOK is on the way to spreading awareness of the requirement to turn to the EV sector and guidelines on how to use EVs.

It also conveys awareness of solar power usage in houses, charging of EVs in solar power and environment-friendly activities.
