JSW Neo Energy Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, has been awarded a Letter of Award (LoA) for the establishment of a 700 MW ISTS connected solar power project by NTPC Limited.
This award comes as a result of a tariff-based competitive bid initiated for setting up 1,500 MW ISTS-connected solar power projects (NTPC-ISTS-II).
With this development, JSW Energy's total locked-in generation capacity increases to 13.3 GW, out of which 3.1 GW comprises solar power. Currently, the company boasts an installed generation capacity of 7.2 GW and anticipates reaching 9.8 GW by the end of CY24.
JSW Energy's overall locked-in generation capacity consists of 7.2 GW operational capacity, 2.6 GW under-construction capacity across wind, thermal, and hydro projects, along with LoAs/LoIs for an additional 3.4 GW capacity from SECI (Solar Tranche XIII and Wind Tranche XVI), SJVN, GUVNL, and NTPC.
The company has secured 3.4 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through battery energy storage systems and hydro-pumped storage projects. Looking ahead, JSW Energy aims to scale its generation capacity to 20 GW and achieve 40 GWh of energy storage capacity before 2030.
