JSW Energy's wholly-owned subsidiary, JSW Neo Energy Ltd., has been awarded a significant contract by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). This contract involves the supply of 230 MW of power from it renewable energy project, following a tariff-based competitive bidding process.
SECI had invited bids for the supply of 630 MW of firm and dispatchable power from an interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected renewable energy project under its SECI-FDRE-IV program. JSW Energy's successful bid reflects its competitive edge in the renewable energy sector.
The firm claims to have a total locked-in generation capacity of 16.4 GW, which includes 7.5 GW operational, 2.3 GW under construction across wind, thermal, and hydro sectors, and a renewable energy pipeline of 6.6 GW, with PPAs signed for 2.0 GW.
Additionally, the company has secured 4.2 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through battery energy storage systems and hydro-pumped storage projects. The firm is targeting a generation capacity of 20 GW and an energy storage capacity of 40 GWh by 2030. The company has also set an ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
The company's strategic expansion plans are evident as it projects an increase in its installed generation capacity to 10 GW by FY25, up from its current capacity of 7.5 GW.
