Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) has successfully commissioned a 15 MW rooftop solar project at its steel manufacturing facility located in Angul, Odisha.

The rooftop solar project is estimated to produce up to 21 million units of electricity annually, leading to an anticipated decrease of 18,000 tons in the unit's yearly CO2 emissions. The project comprises of two distinct projects with capacities of 12 MWdc and 3 MWdc respectively.

The larger 12 MW turnkey Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project was executed by Saatvik Solar, a player in the renewable energy sector. Leveraging top-tier Mono Perc 545 Wp modules, the project was completed efficiently.

Projected to generate an estimated 15,784,100 Units per Annum, the 12 MW project is anticipated to significantly contribute to meeting the energy requirements of JSP's Angul plant. Furthermore, it is expected to result in an annual reduction of approximately 9,610 tonnes of CO2 emissions, demonstrating a substantial stride towards sustainability.

In tandem with the 12 MW project, Ornate Solar has successfully commissioned a 3.25 MW rooftop solar capacity, covering a vast InRoof structure spanning 197,000 square feet and positioned at an elevation of 15 meters.

The collective efforts of JSP, Saatvik Solar, and Ornate Solar reflect a concerted push towards renewable energy adoption and environmental conservation within the industrial landscape.

Moreover, Jindal Steel and Power Chairman, Naveen Jindal, unveiled an environmentally friendly transportation system within the plant premises with the introduction of a fleet comprising 10 electric buses and 27 electric SUVs for employee mobility.
