Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JDVVNL) achieves a milestone as the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) approves a 25-year electricity procurement initiative from ten solar photovoltaic plants under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan Scheme (PM-KUSUM).

The RERC establishes a ceiling tariff of INR 3.55 per kWh for these solar projects, emphasizing its use in future bidding processes by distribution companies. Market conditions will be a key factor for companies to assess before each bidding round. This follows an exhaustive evaluation of JDVVNL’s application under Section 63 of the Electricity Act, 2003.

In a related move, the RERC had previously approved Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) in October 2023 for an average tariff of INR 4 per kWh, enabling them to procure power from Solar Energy Corporation of India’s 490 MW hybrid power projects, integrating solar and pumped storage technologies.
