Japan's NTT to Establish Renewable Power Plants and Lay Subsea Connection in Chennai
The group's renewable energy plans and the main focus is on solar and solar-wind hybrid plants. The group also will purchase power from renewable sources.

Global data centre entity NTT group whereas augmenting in major Indian cities is also exploring tier two cities to develop centres and is also establishing captive renewable power projects in India besides purchasing from others.
The top official stated the subsea cable system MIST with a capacity of around 200 TBPS of data had landed in Chennai.
Presently, the NTT group has 16 data centres functional in four cities - Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Noida near Delhi. The group is constructing 11 more data centres in the four cities and in Kolkata.
Sharad Sanghi, Chairman, NTT Global Data Centers & Cloud Infrastructure India Pvt Ltd, stated, "We are getting into tier two cities like Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bhopal and others. We have identified land parcels.”
He explained a typical data centre would indulge an outlay of around USD 100-150 million and NTT will be investing about USD 300 million in its data center in Chennai; one completed and other one under construction.
