To promote solar growth in India, the JanSamarth Portal extends its assistance to provide loans for rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. According to the official Jansamarth website, registration at the National Portal for PM Surya Ghar is mandatory to avail of this loan facility.
The Jansamarth Portal, an initiative of the Government of India, offers linkages to fourteen Credit-Linked Government schemes on a single platform. This platform allows individuals to apply for different types of loans and check their eligibility. The inclusion of rooftop solar loans for the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana means that applicants can now apply for these loans through the JanSamarth portal, streamlining the process and providing digital approval from lenders.
The portal ensures end-to-end coverage of all processes and activities associated with the linked schemes. It employs cutting-edge technologies and smart analytics to provide intuitive guidance to beneficiaries, helping them check subsidy eligibility. The auto-recommendation system offers the best-suited schemes based on the beneficiary’s requirements and credentials, making the loan process simple, speedy, and hassle-free.
Sharing his views on the scheme, Jaideep N. Malaviya, Secretary, Solar Thermal Federation of India said, "Jansamarth is a user-friendly scheme facilitating retail consumers to borrow loan. It should however be extended to Solar water heaters, which is also a rooftop solar system."
The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, with an investment of over INR 75,000 crores, aims to accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar while providing up to 300 units of free electricity each month to 1 crore households. In the latest budget for FY 2024-25, the government has allocated INR 6,250 crores to support this initiative.
The scheme offers numerous benefits, including substantial financial savings. It is estimated to save INR 15,000 crore annually for 1 crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity per month. Beyond free electricity, households can sell surplus power to local DISCOMs, generating additional income. The scheme also supports the growth of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, essential for the future of sustainable transportation.
By extending loan facilities for rooftop solar installations through the JanSamarth Portal, the government aims to simplify the adoption of solar energy with seamless loan procedures.
