J P Chalasani Joins Punj Lloyd after Reliance Power

Diversified EPC conglomerate, Punj Lloyd has appointed J P Chalasani as Director and Group Chief Executive Officer. Joining Punj Lloyd from Reliance Power, J P Chalasani will work closely with the Chairman, Atul Punj and lead the entire management team from the Company’s corporate headquarters in Gurgaon.

Speaking on this new development, AtulPunj, said “This is a significant development for Punj Lloyd. J P Chalasani’s proficiency in handling challenging assignments is well established and I am confident that his experience and expertise will augment the company's global operations and increase shareholder value.”

A mechanical engineer, J P Chalasani brings with him a rich experience of 30 years in the Indian infrastructure industry, transcending a mix of both public and private sectors of India. Starting his career as a trainee engineer with NTPC, his outstanding performance, leadership and project management skills resulted in his progressive rise to assume critical portfolios.

At Reliance Power Ltd., J P Chalasani led several challenging assignments. He was instrumental in Reliance Power becoming the largest market cap company in the private sector in power and in starting India’s largest coal mine operations in the shortest possible time. He also led the transition of BSES from a power distribution company to an infrastructure company creating new business areas. J P Chalasani earlier worked at NTPC for over 16 years in varying capacities, executing several power projects.

For a Group that has extensive operations across the Middle East & Africa, Asia Pacific, South Asia and Europe, this is a significant step on its roadmap towards becoming a preferred EPC contractor globally. Punj Lloyd has recently completed 25 years of its operations. J P Chalasani will be spearheading the Group’s global, diversified businesses, focussing on improvedoperations, augmented processes and strengthening various business entities.Apart from the core business, J P Chalasani will leverage Human Resources and Finance to play a pivotal role in the Group’s performance.
