Indore Initiates MP’s First Solar-Powered EV Public Charging Station

Atal Indore Transport Services Limited (AICTSL) has proposed an overall 47 charging stations throughout the city, with 37 being slow charging points and 10 being fast charging points, under the initiative to promote green mobility.

With the aim to encourage the use of EVs and support Indore becoming a ‘solar city’, Atal Indore Transport Services Limited (AICTSL) has initiated the state’s first alternate energy-enabled public EV charging station. This station is the first of 46 such facilities planned for various locations throughout the city.

As per the statement of Mayor and AICTSL’s board chairman Pushyamitra Bhargava, there has been a crucial rise in the deployment of EVs in both public and private transportation, so, the need for charging points.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) and AICTSL have committed to making Indore a solar city and positioned the nation in the use of renewable energy. This project is in line with the Prime Minister’s target of attaining a Net-Zero Goal by 2070.

This recently launched charging station can fit up to six vehicles for charging simultaneously. It takes around three hours and four units of electricity at INR 15 per unit to completely charge an electric two-wheeler. Additionally, with on-site charging, consumers can also pre-book and avail of prepaid recharge facilities.

AICTSL has proposed an overall 47 charging stations throughout the city, with 37 being slow charging points and 10 being fast charging points, under the initiative to promote green mobility.

Presently, AICTSL runs and manages 40 electric buses in its public transport service, with 15 charging points already established near Silicon City Square, Hawa Bungalow Square, and Rajiv Gandhi Square.


Atal Indore City Transport Services Ltd. is the specialised and effective regulatory agency to monitor the system of a special-purpose vehicle in the form of a public limited company. It was incorporated to operate and maintain the public vehicles system in Indore with the private sector alliance to deal with financial constraints.
