The Indian Government is actively executing a crucial Scheme for the ‘Development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Power Projects’ throughout the nation, displaying an effort to tap solar energy on a huge scale.
As per the latest statement made by the Union Minister of New Renewable Energy (MNRE) & Power, R. K. Singh, the scheme has yielded the sanction of 50 Solar Parks in 12 states, displaying an aggregate capacity of 37,990 MW.
Amongst the sanctioned parks, significant development has been made, with 11 Solar Parks, accounting for 8,521 MW, already completed.
Additionally, 7 Solar Parks with an overall capacity of 3,985 MW have attained partial completion.
Altogether, these parks have successfully provided the development of solar projects with an aggregate capacity of 10,237 MW.
The state-wise classification of Solar Parks and projects established unveils the government’s efforts to boost RE generation throughout multiple regions.
Andhra Pradesh tops with 5 sanctioned parks and a capacity of 4,200 MW; Gujarat stands out with a 12,150 MW sanctioned capacity across 7 parks.
According to the present timeline, the scheme continues up to 31st March 2026, marking the government’s long-run commitment to promoting solar power generation and sustainability.
By tapping solar energy through these parks, India targets to diversify its energy mix and offset its carbon footprint.
The initiatives will not only support crucially to the country’s energy security but also spur economic growth and create employment opportunities in the RE sector.
