IIT Delhi Organising National Training Programme on CBG Technology from March 11-13, 2025

IIT Delhi's Biogas Development and Training Centre is hosting a National Training Programme on Biogas Production, Power Generation, and CBG Technology from March 11-13, 2025, under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

The Biogas Development and Training Centre (BDTC) at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is hosting the National Training Programme on ‘Biogas Production, Power Generation, and Compressed Biogas (CBG) Technology’ from March 11-13, 2025.

The three-day training programme, being organised under the aegis of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), aims to provide participants with in-depth knowledge and hands-on exposure to biogas production, power generation, CBG enrichment, and relevant policy frameworks.

It was inaugurated by Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy. The schedule of the training programme includes two days of expert-led sessions at IIT Delhi, followed by an exposure visit to a 6 TPD CBG plant in Karnal, Haryana on the final day.

“Attended and addressed the National Training Program on Biogas Production, Power Generation, and Compressed Biogas (CBG) Technology at IIT Delhi. Discussed the pivotal role of biogas in sustainable energy, circular economy and Atmanirbhar Bharat,” stated Naik on X.

BDTC at IIT Delhi is actively engaged in research and development for various aspects of biogas-related technologies and their applications. A biogas purification and bottling plant with improved design parameters has been designed, fabricated, and implemented at IIT Delhi campus. BDTC is operating a 25 m3 /day kitchen waste biogas plant and gas is upgraded into compressed biogas (CBG) using IITD-developed Water Scrubbing Technology and filled-in a biogas car. The car has been operating on CBG for the last eleven years.
