IIT Bombay Gets Donation from Anonymous Alumnus Worth INR 160 Crore for Sustainability Research
The mission is to run practical and trailblazing solutions while evolving entrepreneurship in the area of green energy and sustainability.

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) has procured its first-ever anonymous donation of an outlay of INR 160 crore.
The investment has come from an alumnus who desires to keep it confidential.
Speaking upon the investment, IIT-B director Subhasis Chaudhuri said, “It is the first time that we have received an anonymous donation.”
The donation amount will go towards establishing a Green Energy and Sustainability Research Hub (GESR) on campus.
Through it will be utilised to construct new infrastructure and a contribution will be allocated for research.
The GESR hub will provide research in crucial areas, comprising battery technologies, solar PV, biofuels, clean-air science, flood forecasting and carbon capture.
The donation has received by one of the prestigious institutions in the country along with is allocating the funds and is expanding the facilities by using the loan from the Higher Education Financial Agency (HEFA).
