The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay celebrated 1,000 days of Energy Swaraj Yatra – an initiative by its professor Dr. Chetan Singh Solanki, known as Solar Man of India or Solar Gandhi.

Celebrating 1,000 days of the yatra, the Energy Foundation introduced a new campaign titled — “This election, think of climate correction”.

Dr. Solanki said, “We want to bring the attention of politicians to this. With elections, climate correction will become the topic of prime time discussions and every individual will start thinking about it.”

Solanki, the founder of the Energy Swaraj Foundation, went on board a bus journey in November 2020 to evoke awareness about solar energy and its resourceful consumption throughout the nation.

The event at IIT Bombay, titled “1,000 Days, 1,000 Hopes”, was to celebrate the commemoration of the first 1,000 days of the 10-year journey and also evoke hope for the forthcoming 1,000 days.

Currently, he is on an 11-year-long Energy Swaraj Yatra via solar bus to inspire awareness about climate change to the people and boost them to turn towards 100 percent solar-powered life.

During these 11 years of yatra, he has committed to live on a bus and not go home until the target is achieved.
