The India Energy Week (IEW) 2024 concluded with resounding success at Goa, marking a significant milestone in the global energy landscape. Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, commended the organization of the prestigious energy conclave, noting a remarkable increase in exhibitors by 30 percent and a sprawling exhibition area covering over 18,000 square meters compared to the inaugural session last year.

During the closing ceremony, Minister Puri announced that the third edition of IEW in 2025 will be held at Yashobhoomi, India International Convention and Expo Centre, in New Delhi from February 11-14. He also revealed that India Energy Week 2026 will return to Goa, hosted at IPSHEM-ONGC Training Institute in the southern part of the state.

Highlighting the success of the four-day event, Minister Puri underscored the robust participation of CEOs and board members from leading oil, gas, biofuel, and renewable technology companies. He emphasized IEW's growing prominence as a platform facilitating valuable interactions across diverse global stakeholders in the energy sector. “It reflects that IEW has come to acquire a prominent place amongst available platforms where if you go and spend four days, you can meet a wide cross-section of people, those whom you may otherwise take much longer to interact with if they are placed in different global geographies,” the Union Minister said.

Minister Puri praised the technological innovations showcased at the exhibitions, including advancements in biofuels and renewable energy. He noted India's significant strides in biofuel blending, with plans to increase blending from 12 percent to 20 percent, signaling a promising future for sustainable energy solutions.

Addressing the potential growth areas in India, Minister Puri highlighted ethanol, biofuels, compressed biogas, and green hydrogen as key sectors poised for substantial expansion. “I think the world is just beginning to see that green hydrogen may not be as distant a story as was initially thought. And at least the Indian estimates of 5 million metric tons per annum by 2030 is very much an underestimation,” he added.

Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Pankaj Jain, echoed Minister Puri's sentiments, emphasizing India's transformation into a hub for global energy companies, with a growing presence of back offices and manufacturing facilities.

At the closing ceremony, the Energy Startup Challenge awards were presented, with Iron Technologies securing the first prize, followed by Vasitara Private Limited as the runner-up. Aloe Ecell clinched third place, while Biofuels Junction and VDT Pipeline Integrity Solutions received honourable mentions for their contributions to energy innovation.
