IESA Appoints Debmalya Sen as its New President
The India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), the industry alliance focused on accelerating energy storage, green hydrogen, and e-mobility adoption in India has announced the appointment of Debmalya Sen as its new President.

The India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), the industry alliance focused on accelerating energy storage, green hydrogen, and e-mobility adoption in India has announced the appointment of Debmalya Sen as its new President.
With significant experience in the energy sector spanning conventional power, renewable energy, energy storage, and green hydrogen, Debmalya brings a wealth of expertise to IESA. His leadership in emerging technologies, policy advocacy, and business development will play a critical role in advancing India’s energy storage ecosystem.
Prior to joining IESA, Debmalya served as India Lead – Advanced Energy Solutions at the World Economic Forum, where he spearheaded discussions on energy transition, policy frameworks, and emerging technologies, including energy storage and green hydrogen. He has also worked closely with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) in shaping India’s energy storage policies.
“As President, Debmalya will oversee IESA’s strategic initiatives, industry partnerships, and advocacy efforts to expand the deployment of energy storage solutions across India. His experience in battery storage, grid modernization, and green hydrogen development will strengthen IESA’s mission to create a sustainable and resilient energy future.” said Vinayak Walimbe, the Managing Director of Customized Energy Solutions India Pvt Ltd.
On his appointment, Debmalya Sen stated, “I am honoured to lead IESA at this pivotal moment in India’s energy transition. With the increasing role of energy storage and clean technologies in achieving India’s net-zero goals, I look forward to driving innovation, policy support, and industry collaboration to accelerate the sector’s growth.”
IESA is aggressively supporting India’s Net Zero Goal through various initiatives. India Battery Manufacturing & Supply Chain Council (IBMSCC) is an initiative aimed at working on the complete development of the battery supply chain needed to support upcoming giga factories in India. India Electric Mobility Council (IEMC) has been created to explore opportunities to exploit potential of R&D, manufacturing of E-Mobility technologies and adoption of clean transport in India.
The India Green Hydrogen Council (IGHC) is intended to explore opportunities for India to make the best use of the potential of R&D and manufacturing of green hydrogen technologies and the adoption of clean transport and industrial use. Stationary Energy Storage India (SESI) Council is focused on the roadmap and outlook for Stationary Energy Storage in India.
