Iberdrola is constructing the first hybrid wind and solar complex in the province of Burgos situated in Spain.

The organisation is building two photovoltaic (PV) plants of 41MW and 33MW respectively, which will have over 170,000 modules and will be situated in the Burgos municipalities of Revilla Vallejera, Villamedianilla and Vallejera.

The entity has granted over USD 44 million approximately for the development of the project.

Wind and solar hybridisation makes it feasible to utilise the grid while keeping in mind about the reducing the environmental impact of the projects.

Iberdrola will outlay in this technology for the upcoming years in Spain, with which it intends to improve its renewable resources and make the most of existing locations.

This project contributes clean and feasible energy to the electricity system by assuring the optimum supply of green energy originally authorised for each project, for as long as possible.

The hybrid generation plants utilise the same grid connection point and contribute infrastructures, such as the substation and the evacuation power line for the electricity generated.

Iberdrola is focusses in energy storage with a capacity of 4,473 megawatts (MW) installed utilising pumped storage technology and over 200 megawatts in batteries. The company will augment its installed renewable potential in diverse range of portfolio including on-shore, off-shore, photovoltaic, hydro technological set-up.
