Huasun, a Chinese solar technology company specialising in the development and production of advanced heterojunction (HJT) solar cells and modules, has secured two significant bids with Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina), totalling 840 MWp of n-type heterojunction (HJT) solar modules.

As per the firm's statement, the bids include a 500 MWp procurement for the 2024 solar projects and a 339.68 MWp allocation for the Qinhuangdao Changli offshore photovoltaic pilot project located in East China. Huasun emerged as a strong contender in both projects, securing second place for the former and first place for the latter, further solidifying its leadership in the HJT sector.

The collaboration between Huasun and PowerChina New Energy, a subsidiary of PowerChina, has evolved since 2022, when the two companies formalised their first partnership through a strategic framework agreement. This agreement laid the foundation for joint efforts in renewable energy development and technological advancement. With these recent bids, Huasun continues to demonstrate its technological expertise, product quality, and competitive edge in the vertical integration of ingots, wafers, cells, and modules.

The firm further said that the successful 500 MW procurement project underscores the strength of Huasun’s HJT technology, which has become increasingly recognised for its performance and reliability in diverse environments.

Meanwhile, the Qinhuangdao Changli offshore project highlights the growing importance of offshore photovoltaics, which have become a key component of global energy transition strategies. Located in the Bohai Bay, the 300 MW offshore PV pilot project is China’s first large-scale offshore solar project in the region and will also be the second such project that Huasun has secured with PowerChina.

The Qinhuangdao project is set to be located 7.3 kilometres offshore in waters that range between 6 to 12 meters deep, covering an area of 279 hectares. This imposes stringent construction demands, and Huasun will supply its state-of-the-art V-Ocean HJT modules for the project. These modules are equipped with 210mm HJT cells, double-glass encapsulation, and double-sided microcrystalline technology, ensuring superior performance in marine environments. The V-Ocean modules are the world’s first certified modules for offshore applications, offering resistance to salt mist, water vapour, and UV, thereby guaranteeing the project's reliability and contributing to the advancement of offshore PV development in China.

As per the firm, Huasun’s HJT modules have demonstrated reliability in challenging environments like mountainous regions, agrivoltaic systems, and offshore projects. These recent successes further solidify Huasun’s leadership in the HJT market and enhance its long-term partnership with PowerChina. As the world focuses on sustainable energy, Huasun’s ongoing innovation in the HJT sector is crucial for advancing the transition to cleaner energy.
