The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) is rolling out electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across its hotels statewide to enhance the tourist experience and champion sustainable tourism.
Strategically positioned at popular destinations like Barog, Parwanoo, Kiarighat, and Darlaghat, these charging stations aim to cater to the increasing number of tourists opting for electric vehicles, aligning with the global push towards sustainable travel.
The HPTDC envisions outfitting all its hotels with EV charging stations within the next two to three months, responding to the rising demand for eco-friendly travel options. The initial deployment includes Level 1 charging stations, known for their cost-effectiveness.
Depending on their popularity, the corporation may explore higher-level stations with faster charging times, though Level 3 stations would necessitate a more substantial investment.
While the HPTDC believes that introducing EV charging stations will elevate the overall tourist experience, challenges remain. Limited funds for infrastructure investment, uncertainties surrounding the effectiveness of basic Level 1 charging, and concerns about electric vehicle limitations must be addressed for the initiative's success.
The HPTDC's commitment to installing EV charging stations signifies a dedication to sustainable tourism and providing convenient facilities for visitors.
