Honeywell to Automate Exide Energy’s Lithium-Ion Gigafactory in Bengaluru
Honeywell will implement advanced automation and safety solutions at Exide Energy’s 80-acre lithium-ion gigafactory in Bengaluru. The facility, slated for completion in 2025, will support electric mobility and align with India’s Make in India initiative.

Honeywell has secured a contract to provide advanced building automation solutions for Exide Energy Solutions Ltd. (EESL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Exide Industries Ltd.
The initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency and safety at the company’s upcoming lithium-ion gigafactory in Bengaluru.The facility, spanning 80 acres, will be Bengaluru’s first multi-gigawatt-hour lithium-ion cell manufacturing plant and a cornerstone in addressing the rising global demand for electric vehicle batteries.
The gigafactory’s first phase, set for completion in 2025, will integrate Honeywell’s Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) platform to centralize monitoring and control of building management, ensuring seamless operations and faster incident response.
Highlighting the partnership, Atul Pai, Vice President and General Manager, Building Automation, Honeywell India, said, “By helping Exide Energy make their lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility more safe, secure, and automated, we are advancing the production of batteries that power the future of electric vehicles. This collaboration underscores our commitment to sustainable energy solutions and supports India’s drive towards self-reliance in electric mobility.”
Dr. Mandar Deo, CEO of Exide Energy Solutions Ltd., emphasised the alignment between Honeywell’s solutions and the company’s vision. “Honeywell's automation and safety systems will help us establish one of the most technologically advanced and sustainable units for Li-ion cell production. Their expertise makes them the ideal partner for this ambitious project,” he said.
The collaboration also reflects Honeywell’s dedication to India’s Make in India initiative and its alignment with global megatrends in automation and energy transition.
