Hindustan Zinc, a key player in sustainable mining and metal production as part of the Vedanta Group, has officially unveiled its deployment of Electric Vehicle (EV) Trucks in collaboration with Inland EV Green Services Pvt. Ltd.

The launch ceremony, held at Rampura Agucha, witnessed the presence of Hindustan Zinc's Chairperson, Priya Agarwal Hebbar.

Designed specifically for Indian conditions, these EV trucks boast an impressive 55-ton capacity and an outstanding charging capability, going from 20 percent to 100 percent in just 90 minutes.

Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc, expressed pride stating, "This aligns with Hindustan Zinc's approved SBTi targets and will contribute to the reduction in Scope 3 emissions. The deployment of these electric vehicles will propel us further towards achieving our carbon neutrality goals and set a benchmark for responsible mining practices globally."

The introduction of these EV trucks marks a significant milestone in Hindustan Zinc's sustainability journey, aiming for net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The partnership with Inland EV Green Services aligns with their Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approved goals, targeting a 50 percent reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions and an additional 25 percent reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by FY2030.

Hindustan Zinc's sustainability efforts also include the earlier deployment of LNG-powered vehicles, with plans to establish a fleet of 180 such vehicles. The addition of EV Trucks marks a crucial step towards achieving net-zero emissions across the value chain by FY2050, in line with the 1.5°C trajectory.
