Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed Himurja to accomplish the construction work of both solar power projects in Pangi valley as soon as possible.

Remote and tribal locations of the state are ready to develop in the field of solar energy and assist towards the goal of achieving of a green energy state.

Plans are in progress to establish two solar power projects of 400 KW each in the Pangi subdivision of Chamba district for which land has been passed over to Himurja, the state-run nodal agency for renewable energy.

Himurja has picked one hectare of land for each solar power project at Hillaur and Dharwas of Pangi valley and the agency has introduced forward action to accomplish the projects, which will cost approximately INR 10 crore.

The chief minister further added that besides this, the government has made an arrangement in the budget for the year 2023-24 to establish a solar power-based battery energy storage system project in Pangi to support and nourish its power supply system.

This project will facilitate incessant power supply to the people of the region even during power disruption caused by bad weather and heavy snowfall.

The people of Pangi have to face severe troubles due to the worst weather conditions, particularly during the winter, which often results in electrical failure.
