Himachal Pradesh Government Inks MoU with Oil India to Develop Renewable Energy

According to official statement, this will be a breakthrough in forming Himachal Pradesh the first green energy state in the country by March 31, 2026.

Himachal Pradesh government inked a memorandum of understanding with Oil India Ltd to explore the state's solar potential, to set up a structure for cooperation in tapping, harnessing and developing new and renewable energy sources in the state.

The treaty was inked by Harikesh Meena, Director (Energy), representative of the state government, and Pankaj Kumar Goswami, Director (Operations), Oil India Ltd, in the presence of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu.

The Chief Minister stated that the company would find out the possibilities of establishing floating solar power plants in water reservoirs, apart from installing ground mounted solar power projects.

He mentioned that the Oil India planning to establish a plant for manufacturing green hydrogen and green ammonia on an exploratory basis.

The state Himachal Pradesh has enormous amount of green energy and opportunity in manufacturing green hydrogen, and the state government has taken numerous initiatives to tap and make use of this potential.

The review meeting will be organised on May 26 this year to discuss the development of the planned projects.

Oil India should be also need to avoid unnecessary delays in commissioning these projects.

The partnership between the state government and Oil India will emphasise on progressing many new and renewable energy sources, comprising solar energy, green hydrogen, compressed biogas, geothermal energy and wind energy.
