HG Infra Engineering, Bhilwara Energy, Kintech Synergy and Advait Infratech have emerged as winners in Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd.’s (GUVNL) 500 MW/1000 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) auction. The auction discovered an L1 tariff of INR 2.259 lakh per MW per month.
HG Infra Engineering Ltd. and Kintech Synergy Pvt. Ltd. quoted a tariff of INR 2.259 lakh per MW per month and have won 250 MW and 100 MW, respectively. Bhilwara Energy Ltd. won 100 MW at the same tariff. Advait Infratech Ltd. has won 50 MW at a tariff of INR 2.26 lakh per MW per month.
The introduction of Viability Gap Funding (VGF) has been instrumental in reducing tariffs for these projects. Implemented under the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model, developers were chosen through global competitive bidding based on tariffs.
The tender for this was issued in August 2024.
Originally, the tender was issued for 400 MW/800 MWh with a greenshoe option for an additional 400 MW/800 MWh. It was later amended to expand the total capacity to 500 MW/1000 MWh, supported by VGF.
