Indian two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has joined hands with US-based Zero Motorcycles to collaborate on premium electric motorcycles. According to the recently signed agreement, Zero will combine its expertise in developing power trains and electric motorcycles with Hero MotoCorp’s scale of manufacturing, sourcing and marketing.
While the companies have not revealed the details of products, various electric motorcycles are listed on the website of Zero Motorcycles.
Last year, Hero MotoCorp's board approved an equity investment of up to USD 60 million in Zero Motorcycles.
Calling the partnership a ‘significant milestone’, Pawan Munjal, Chairman & CEO of Hero MotoCorp, says that the company looks forward to accelerating the transition of electric mobility in India and across its global markets.
Sam Paschel, CEO of Zero Motorcycles added that both companies are committed to transforming the riding experience and bringing innovative products to the world. “With these shared passions, we look forward to delivering exceptional value, performance and fun for our customers," he said.
Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp has already launched its first EV under its emerging mobility brand, VIDA.
The company has started operations of its public charging infrastructure in Bengaluru, Delhi and Jaipur. It has already installed around 300 charging points, across the three cities for public use.
Hero MotoCorp announced a rise of 3.6 percent in its net profit of INR 711 crore for Q3FY23, as compared to INR 686 crore in Q3FY22.
