H.E.L Group, a global developer and manufacturer of innovative laboratory tools for process optimisation, safety, and scale-up, has announced the introduction of the iso-BTC e, a benchtop isothermal calorimeter for the precise measurement of heat dissipation in semiconductors, either individually or in situ on a printed circuit board (PCB). With this, manufacturers can utilise precise heat power data to develop effective thermal management strategies and designs.
Present tools provide temperature data or electrical measurements, which currently allow semiconductor manufacturers to indirectly quantify heat dissipation. The new iso-BTC e’s unique design with specialised clamps and large testing plate, offers direct, real-time measurements of heat power in semiconductors, enabling optimization of semiconductor performance and reliability.
Direct measurement of heat power supports the design of chips and PCBs by identifying thermal bottlenecks, and power dissipation, and provides advanced thermal validation to prevent overheating. This will ensure the safety and increased performance of semiconductor technologies for use in electric vehicles, data processing, networking and communications, and energy storage.
Commenting on the development, Louise Madden, CEO at H.E.L Group, said, “Expansion of our portfolio to include the new iso-BTC e extends our reach in the semiconductor market, offering our customers a specifically designed isothermal calorimeter for direct heat dissipation measurement during development and certification processes.”
She further added, “The addition of the iso-BTC e alongside our existing product range in chemical synthesis allows H.E.L to offer beginning-to-end solutions for semiconductor manufacturing. As the market evolves, we will continue to develop and optimise our products to accommodate future semiconductor technologies and fulfil our customers’ research needs.”
