Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC) has teamed up with Yellow Door Energy to launch what is poised to be the GCC’s largest private solar energy initiative.
The ambitious project will see the installation of solar power systems across three of GWC’s major logistics hubs: Logistics Village Qatar, Bu Sulba Warehousing Park, and Al Wukair Logistics Park.
This strategic move reflects GWC’s long-term commitment to green logistics and sustainable operations across the Gulf. According to Matthew Kearns, Acting Group CEO of GWC, the initiative represents a major step in integrating renewable energy into core logistics infrastructure. “Warehouses play a crucial role in our operations. Partnering with Yellow Door Energy allows us to make real progress in reducing emissions and enhancing energy efficiency across our network,” he said.
The solar rollout will significantly reduce GWC’s reliance on conventional power sources, utilising Qatar’s abundant sunlight to power key facilities. It aligns closely with the nation’s environmental ambitions under Qatar National Vision 2030, which includes deploying 4 GW of large-scale renewable energy capacity and achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
As a member of the UN Global Compact, GWC has committed to cutting its Scope 1 emissions by 3 percent, Scope 2 by 6 percent, and waste generation by 20 percent by 2030.
Jeremy Crane, CEO of Yellow Door Energy, emphasised the impact of the partnership: “This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to sustainability and innovation. We’re proud to contribute to Qatar’s net-zero goals and bring our expertise in designing, financing, and operating solar systems to this landmark initiative.”
Yellow Door Energy currently manages over 400 MWp of awarded solar assets across 150 sites, making it one of the leading players in the region’s distributed solar market.
As GWC continues to scale up operations across the Gulf, this solar partnership reinforces its vision to lead the region’s transition toward cleaner, more efficient logistics infrastructure.
