The Government of India organized a comprehensive day-long workshop titled 'Quality Control in Green Hydrogen: Standards and Testing Infrastructure' at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi.
The event, convened by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, aimed to address the crucial aspects of establishing quality standards and testing infrastructure in the green hydrogen sector to foster a seamless ecosystem for production.
The workshop focused on identifying necessary actions to establish a standardized framework for green hydrogen production, ensuring quality control through defined standards. Discussions also revolved around the development of a network of testing facilities and strategies to enhance the Ease of Doing Business to expedite the transition to clean energy.
One of the highlights of the event was the unveiling of a dedicated portal for the National Green Hydrogen Mission. This portal, launched jointly by Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, and Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Bhupinder S. Bhalla, will serve as a centralized hub for information on the mission's progress and initiatives undertaken to bolster the green hydrogen ecosystem in India.
Furthermore, two significant reports were released during the workshop: 'Green Hydrogen Standards and Approval Systems in India' and 'India’s Green Hydrogen Revolution,' shedding light on critical aspects of the nation's green hydrogen landscape.
The workshop featured five panel discussions, where experts from leading technical institutions, regulatory bodies, and industry sectors deliberated on various facets of the green hydrogen ecosystem. Topics ranged from the imperatives and challenges to standards in hydrogen storage, electrolyzer manufacturing, and performance, as well as green hydrogen production plants and applications.
The event witnessed the participation of approximately 300 stakeholders representing ministries, public sector undertakings, government agencies, industry players, associations, research institutes, laboratories, and academia, underscoring the collective commitment towards advancing the green hydrogen agenda in India.
