Government Approves Eight Solar Parks in Bundelkhand with Aggregate Capacity of 4995 MW
The proposed solar parks include Jalaun Solar Park with a capacity of 1200 MW, Chhatarpur Solar Park 950 MW, Chitrakoot Solar Park 800 MW, Barethi Solar Park 630 MW, Lalitpur Solar Park 600 MW, Jhansi Solar Park 600 MW, UP Solar Park 150 MW, and Kalpi Solar Park 65 MW.

The government has approved 8 solar parks with an aggregate capacity of 4995 MW in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh towards enhancing generation of solar energy.
The proposed solar parks include Jalaun Solar Park with a capacity of 1200 MW, Chhatarpur Solar Park 950 MW, Chitrakoot Solar Park 800 MW, Barethi Solar Park 630 MW, Lalitpur Solar Park 600 MW, Jhansi Solar Park 600 MW, UP Solar Park (Jalaun District site) 150 MW, and Kalpi Solar Park 65 MW.
With an investment of INR 4,800 crore, the 1200-MW ultramega solar project in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh would be set up by Bundelkhand Saur Urja (BSUL), a joint venture company between Uttar Pradesh Non-Conventional Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) and National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC).
UPNEDA and THDCIL will have 26 percent and 74 percent respectively.
The ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) will reportedly provide INR 20 lakh per MW or 30 percent of the project value, whichever is less.
All these solar power projects are likely to result in various benefits like electricity generation, economic development, local direct and indirect employment, etc. around the area that they come up.
