The power infrastructure and renewable energy business unit of Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd has commissioned the 220/66/11kV power grid substations at Sira in Tumakuru district of Karnataka.

Commenting on the commissioning of substations, Raghavendra Mirji, Senior Vice President & Head – Power Infrastructure & Renewable Energy (PIRE), Godrej Electricals & Electronics, said, “We are thrilled to commission substations with high power capacity that will not only resolve the problem of reliable power in Sira but also pave way for industries to perform better due to better accessibility to an efficient power supply in the region. We hope to expand our reach to such smaller towns in the state to improve the quality of power transmission in the future.”

The new substations commissioned would connect Sira and its adjacent towns on a state-level grid through 220kV and 66kV transmission lines, thereby giving access to reliable quality power with a transformation capacity of 200 MVA.

The substation is expected to provide the required momentum to encourage the industrial landscape in and around Sira.

With the substation, the guarantee of reliable power will be resolved by transmitting electricity to the emerging Industrial establishments and data centres in the area.
