Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has advised state departments and agencies to join hands with Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) for potential collaboration on renewable project financing in the state.
Earlier this month, the minister announced that by 2050, Goa is aiming to produce 100 percent of its electricity through renewable energy sources. This will require an investment of around INR 1.30 lakh crore and can generate various direct and indirect jobs.
Addressing the gathering at CII Goa Conference on Clean Renewable Energy in Panaji, Pramod Sawant urged the departments to sign MoUs with IREDA for faster development of projects in the state. At the panel discussion, IREDA CMD Pradip Kumar Das emphasised the need to focus on innovative financing mechanisms to push the deployment of emerging renewable energy technologies including green hydrogen, green ammonia and e-mobility.
He further urged the developers and bankers to be transparent in their approach for hassle-free RE development in the country in line with the government's mission of achieving 50 percent of its installed energy capacity from non-fossil fuels by 2030.
