Germany's recent solar auction for installations on buildings and noise barriers has successfully awarded contracts to 88 bids, boasting a cumulative capacity of 191MW.
The Bundesnetzagentur, the German Federal Network Agency, reported a total of 184 bids received, representing a combined volume of 373MW.
Successful bids in the auction showcased competitive pricing, ranging from EUR 0.088 to EUR 0.0998 per kWh. The volume-weighted average award price stood at EUR 0.0958 per kWh, marking a noteworthy EUR 0.6 per kWh reduction compared to the highest award price in the previous auction, which was EUR 0.108 per kWh.
Geographically, the awards were distributed across the nation, with North Rhine-Westphalia leading with 14 winning projects and a combined volume of 27 MW. Lower Saxony (13 awards, 25MW), Bavaria (13 awards, 21MW), and Baden-Württemberg (11 awards, 20MW) followed as the top four federal states with the highest number of awards.
In terms of capacity, 64 winning bids were for a volume of up to 2 MW, while the largest bid secured a volume of 17 MW.
The high demand for solar projects in Germany was further evident in October when the innovation auction awarded contracts to 32 solar-plus-storage projects, boasting a cumulative capacity of 408 MW. The auction received 53 bids, totaling 779 MW, nearly double the 400 MW limit set for the auction.
This marks the second innovative auction held in Germany this year, with the previous one concluding differently, accepting only three projects with a combined capacity of 83.5 MW, despite auctioning 400 MW of capacity.
