Fronius Launches Reserva Battery Storage System
Austrian inverter manufacturer Fronius has launched its first battery storage system – Reserva. It uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells. Capacities between 6.3 kWh and 15.8 kWh are possible with two to five modules. A total of up to four battery towers can be connected in parallel to achieve a maximum storage capacity of 63 kWh.

Austrian inverter manufacturer Fronius has announced the launch of its first battery storage system – Fronius Reserva. This will close an important gap in its product portfolio and help it become a complete provider of photovoltaic systems, the company said in a statement.
“The Fronius Reserva is a high-voltage battery with DC coupling that guarantees almost loss-free charging and discharging performance. Capacities between 6.3 kWh and 15.8 kWh are possible with two to five modules. The storage modules are stacked on top of each other like building blocks as a plug-and-play connection without the need for cabling. A total of up to four battery towers can be connected in parallel to achieve a maximum storage capacity of 63 kWh,” it said.
The new battery storage system is optimally matched to the two hybrid inverters Fronius GEN24 Plus and Fronius Verto Plus and can therefore be seamlessly integrated into an existing photovoltaic system. “The tried-and-tested Solar.web app is all that is needed for visualization; no additional software is required. The Fronius Reserva status display also shows the current charge status and indicates if there is a fault,” it said.
Commenting on the launch of the battery storage system, Harald Scherleitner, CSO, Fronius said, “We are now offering solar power as a complete package, supplying everything from a single source. This has several advantages: Firstly, all products are perfectly matched to each other, and secondly, it only takes one app for complete energy management. And last but not least, it makes life easier for our customers.”
The Fronius Reserva is backup power and black start capable. This means that the battery can continue to be charged and discharged even in the event of a power failure.
The cells of the new battery storage system are made of lithium iron phosphate, or LFP for short, a cobalt-free material. LFP batteries are durable, low-maintenance, safe and lightweight and offer outstanding charging and discharging efficiency.
The Fronius Reserva also impresses with its deliberately slim design. “This means that the battery fits into narrow cellar corridors as well as small garages. It can generally be used at temperatures from -20 to 55 degrees Celsius and has an IP65 Safety class, which provides optimum protection against external influences. The Fronius Reserva is therefore ideal for both indoor and protected outdoor use,” claimed the company.
