France Surpasses Wind Tender Goals with 54 Projects Awarded in PPE2 Auction

The cumulative capacity of the awarded schemes stands at an impressive 931.31 MW, slightly exceeding the initial target of 925 MW.
The projects, boasting an average price of EUR 86.94/MWh, received substantial interest, with a total of 101 applications submitted during the round. The cumulative capacity of these proposals reached 1603.91 MW.
To meet the timelines, the new projects are required to be constructed within the next 36 months and commissioned before November 2026, emphasizing France's commitment to prompt and efficient implementation of renewable energy infrastructure.
Leading the pack in the onshore wind sector, the most successful companies in this round include Calyce, TTR, JPEE, Voltalia, Abowind, RWE, Vent du Nord, Engie Green, and Ostwind. Together, these companies secured more than 50 percent of the total project volume, reinforcing their prominence in France's renewable energy landscape.
Geographically, the regions of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Grand-Est, and Hauts-de-France emerged as the most productive, collectively accounting for 56 percent of the total onshore wind capacity awarded. This regional distribution underscores the nationwide commitment to diversifying and expanding renewable energy sources.
France's successful onshore wind tender signals a positive step towards achieving its renewable energy goals and fostering a more sustainable and diverse energy portfolio.
